Health
The Foundation has a growing portfolio of health programs. Over the last two years, we have engaged policymakers, and state and federal governments to advocate for the reform of primary healthcare service delivery and the adoption of universal health coverage. We are currently conducting a study mapping the barriers to and opportunities for universal health coverage in Nigeria with a focus on non-communicable diseases.
Working in partnership with the pharmaceutical industry, we have established a patient access-to-care program that offers discount therapies. This same partnership helps us deliver training sessions to healthcare workers.
Women and Child Rights
Medicaid Foundation is bringing influential voices across the existing divide on the issue of women’s rights together, facilitating the dialogue necessary to bring about changes to attitudes and behaviors between conservatives and progressives.
Prioritizing Northern Nigeria, the Foundation is running an awareness intervention to break the culture of silence on gender-based violence. Adopting methodologies that reach populations outside of traditional media engagement.
We are advocating for the domestication of women and child rights laws at the state level in Nigeria.
Education
Medicaid Foundation is strengthening primary and vocational education in Northern Nigeria. In addition, there is a focus on basic literacy and numeracy training, especially for women, to reinforce their capacity to become more active and productive agents in their communities.
Economic Empowerment
Medicaid Foundation is supporting women cooperatives to access seed funding and stock to grow their enterprises, also providing a combination of professional and vocational training to apply their skills and to establish profitable economic operations.
Humanitarian Relief
Medicaid Foundation provides humanitarian relief and recovery services for those affected by natural diseases. Proper emergency supplies and services are essential in the aftermath of disasters and political unrest.
